Dr. Kauliss P. Lanthier
As a mental health professional for more than 20 years, I have worked in hospitals, university settings, veterans administration centers, mental health clinics, and my own private practice in Ontario, Canada and Bermuda. Additionally, I have supervised clinical psychology students who were pursuing their doctoral degrees in the USA, Canada and Bermuda. I have sat on the executive board of the Bermuda Psychological Association (BPA) for several years and am currently the Chair for the Bermuda Psychologist Council (BPC).
I value creating a collaborative working relationship, which I believe is a key ingredient in fostering change and growth. I hope that my clients are willing to be open, honest and trusting enough to engage in the therapeutic process. It is through cultivating an honest working relationship, that insight, skill development, acceptance and change can prosper and be retained and sustained.
I have been trained in a wide variety of treatment modalities. These include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Rogerian Client-Centered Therapy, Multi-Modal Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Gestalt therapy, Brief Psychotherapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy. Each of these treatments have scientific merit. The initial assessment phase is ascertaining which modality is most suitable for reaching your goals. My integrative approach allows me to draw from different therapeutic perspectives based on the needs of my patients. I typically utilize Psychodynamic, CBT and EMDR approaches.
